Fellows of the Irish Computer Society are invited to an evening seminar on 6 September 2018 which will cover the basics of the new GDPR legislation that came into effect recently.
GDPR significantly changes data protection law across Europe, strengthening the rights of individuals but also increasing the obligations on organisations and their management teams. GDPR introduces new elements and significant enhancements on top of the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003. This session will help you to understand the legislation and be prepared for what it means for you.
Jim Gregg, ICS’s Professional Development Consultant, will be presenting the seminar.
The overview of GDPR will take around one hour and cover the following topics:
• What GDPR is and why we need it?
• Key Terms & Definitions
• The Principles of GDPR

• Major Changes With GDPR
• Questions & Answers
Following the seminar, there will be an opportunity for networking and discussion over a glass of wine.
