itSMF International Chapter Development and Support Committee		 10/08/2009

itSMF Ireland is playing an active role in developing itSMF International and shaping future Chapter leadership.

As per the announcement in July 2009 by itSMF International (itSMFI), there is now a moratorium on approving new Chapters. The itSMFI objective to ensure that the approval, operation and growth of new Chapters, continues to be a coordinated and well managed effort, has resulted in the need for process improvements and changes. The itSMFI recognises that the current establishment and ongoing governance of Chapters needs significant improvement and have established an itSMF International Chapter Development and Support Committee (iDaSC).

This committee will be responsible for, among other things, the following tasks:

1: Review current Chapter Development Process (CDP) to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.

2: Define and document an improved Chapter Development Process.

3: Define and document roles and responsibilities associated with the Chapter Development Process (e.g.., Chapter Mentors)

4: Define and document qualifications and training for those roles

Chapter Leadership Conference - Program Development Committee

In 2008, the itSMFI established an annual Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) whereby Chapter leaders convene to discuss, share and shape the quality and future direction of the itSMF.

The intent and purpose of the (CLC) is three fold:

For Chapters:

  • Provide itSMF-focused learning and information to current & future itSMF Chapter Leaders

  • Prepare Chapter leaders for challenges and issues they face or may face

  • Provides an exciting, positive forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices in Chapter Leadership in multiple areas of interest, including Events and Event planning, Membership/Sponsorship, Governance, Publications, Certification, Chapter Finance and budgeting, etc.

  • Helps prepare Chapter Designated Representatives for a more productive AGM and Chapter Meeting

  • Show Chapters how they can become engaged in efforts that are critical to our industry.



For itSMF International:

  • Provides an exceptional mechanism to communicate with Chapter Leadership in a comprehensive and structured way

  • Demonstrates unique and tangible value

  • A positive means for IEB and Chapter collaboration



For the itSMF Community and ITSM industry:

  • Builds and supports committed industry leaders

  • Stronger and more successful itSMF Chapters

  • Better and more unified Global itSMF Community
